The Selection Process

A selection committee coordinated by NSJF General Secretary or Secretary (most often secretary) picks the nominees for the NSJF Male Player of the Year, NSJF Female Player of the Year, NSJF Youth Player of the Year, NSJF Coach of the Year, subjected to approval from the NSJF executive committee.

The selection is based on the basis of the players’, team’s and coach’s performance and achievement at the international and domestic arena in the previous Vikram Sambat calendar year. The best in each category among them will be declared the winner.

The selection process in the people’s choice award is based on the popularity of player along with his/her performance and achievement in the respective games. The winner is decided through e-Sewa votes (50 percent weightage), Facebook likes (25 percent weightage), points allocated by chief coaches of sports associations (12.5 percent weightage) and sports journalists — members of NSJF (12.5 percent weightage).

There won’t be nominations for NSJF Lifetime Achievement Award, NSJF Special Award and NSJF Team of the Year. The winner will be revealed directly during the Award ceremony. The selection committee and the NSJF Executive Committee selects the winner for these three categories.

The NSJF Asian Sports Journalist Award is conferred to an international sports journalist from Asia under the recommendation of AIPS Asia, the continental body of Asian Sports Journalists.
